Assess every surface in real light
Walls that appear sound under diffuse light may show repairs, flashing, texture differences, or roller marks in morning and evening light. A careful assessment maps repairs and determines whether spot work or broader preparation is appropriate.
Protect the occupied home
Protection should match the work: floor coverings secured without damaging finishes, contained sanding, isolated spray areas, covered fixtures, and a daily cleanup standard. A beautiful finish is not successful if the surrounding home is harmed.
Match products to use
Ceilings, walls, bathrooms, trim, doors, shelving, and cabinetry have different requirements for washability, blocking resistance, application, and sheen. The system should reflect how each surface is touched, cleaned, and lit.
Review before completion
Final review should happen after coatings cure sufficiently and under representative lighting. Touchups need to blend in colour, sheen, and texture rather than merely cover a mark.
