How is a renovation scoped in an older Okanagan home?
By finding out what is actually behind the finishes before committing to a plan. Framing, insulation, wiring, plumbing, and previous alterations all shape what is possible, and older homes routinely hide work done to a different standard. Investigation early prevents redesign mid-project.
Why do renovations carry more uncertainty than new builds?
Because the existing conditions are not fully knowable until things are opened up. A new build starts from a known state; a renovation starts from decades of decisions made by other people. Good renovation planning allows for that rather than pretending it away.
Should a renovation be done in phases or all at once?
